Album Review

William Topley, the former lead singer for the Blessing, turns in a surprisingly successful collection of rootsy, low-key adult contemporary rock, highlighted by his bluesy voice, sturdy songwriting and engaging, unaffected performances.

Uncovered Gem

Great smoky voice. Not a bad song on the album. Dare you not to boogie to Stabroek Woman. The Ring, Black Water, mesmorizing. Nuff said!

This album is nothing short of amazing! If you like "soul rock" or "blues rock" (call it what you will) you will enjoy every minute of this album. Having gone solo from "The Blessing," William Topley delivers everything we would expect and more with "Black River."

Solid Effort

William is an amzaing artist and almost impossible to see live due to a very limited travel schedule. While his roots with The Blessing are equally strong at times, this collection is simply outstanding and probably my favorite of all his work. His voice, a deep tenor, is said to rival Van Morrison, and you'll believe it once you've listened to this or any of his efforts. The back up band is tight, back up singers very cool, the song writing outstanding. Adult blues rock, whatever, this guy puts down some of the best blues out there....pj
