Reseña de álbum

How do you know that former blink-182 leader Tom DeLonge intends for his post-blink project Angels and Airwaves to be taken seriously? Because throughout their debut album, We Don't Need to Whisper, he relies on sounds and textures borrowed from 1988, the era when college rock was filled with atmospheric sonics and earnest politics. Specifically, he layers delayed guitars ripped from U2 over soundscapes equally inspired by the Cure, New Order, Peter Gabriel, and The Unforgettable Fire, all in an attempt to fashion a modern-day protest record. The result might be less than successful, but it is interesting, particularly in how DeLonge's desire to be taken seriously has led him to use the serious music of his adolescence as a signifier that he's serious now.

Amazing, mezmerising, I can't use words

Truly...simply...mezmerising. Amazing. Brilliant work from the minds of Tom Delonge, Atom Willard, David Kenney and Ryan Sinn. Fortunatley, I was able to make it to the signing in NYC Virgin Megastore and meet the band, :D 1. Valkyrie Missile: Great intro, I did expect the guitar riff to be in the beginning (Sean) --- 9.5/10 2. Distraction: Great, simply, a little similar to other songs on the album. Oh well, 9/10 3. Do it For Me Now - Their next single, a little like their other songs... awesome. 9.5/10 4. The Adventure -- Their first single, also very good, not my favorite however. 9/10 5. A Little's Enough -- Its different, sadder and similar to Blink-182's self titled release...its good. I'll give it that. 8.9/10 6. The War -- Harder than the other songs, its awesome. 9/10 7. The Gift -- Good, a little similar to the Adventure. 8.5/10 8. It Hurts -- Best on the album. My favorite. 10/10 9. Good Day -- A little...corny. 7.5/10 10. Start the Machine -- Sort of like an synth rock version of Good Day. 8/10 11. The Adventure (Whispers) -- Sounds just like the album version...hmm (I won't give this a grade because, well, its not on the album) Overall, buy this CD. I highly suggest it, it will move you, and if it doesn't, then listen to it anyway. Its me. Thank you. ---Superbrickdude

One outstanding album!

I know that Tom DeLonge has hyped up this album quite a lot, but he is completely justified. This album is not only one of the best albums this year, it is one of the most concise albums I have ever discovered. There is absolutely no filler in this album, which is something rarely seen in music today. Every song is a different journey and part of the soul, and could easily be anyone's personal favorite. Although most of the tracks may musically sound alike, they differ lyrically. Tom Delonge’s lyrics aren’t the most amazing lyrics ever written, but they defiantly go beyond the usual standard, and always have a upbeat and honest feel. Sitting down and listening to this album in it’s entirety is an emotional, and musical journey rarely ever experienced. The unique style, uplifting lyrics, and pleasing vocal performance lead to one of the best and most concise albums to be released this year. But if you are someone who is more interested in how much noise one band can make or how painstakingly fast a band can play a song, then don‘t bother with this album. Angels and Airwaves did not make this album to show off. They made it because they love making music that is a joy to listen to, and music that is able connect with an audience. I recommend this album to anyone who is passionate about music!

Try it

So..I was really looking foward to this album. I am an avid Blink and Box Car Racer fan, so it's not that I am picking on Tom Delonge or anything..but I think the hype overdid this album....don't get me's a GREAT cd, but it just isn't what I's not as upbeat and fast as I expected. It's slower than you'd think...but it is still great. Let me sum it up for you: If you enjoy music, buy this album. Period. If I had to choose one word to describe We Don't Need to Whisper, I'd say: Epic. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. Word. SA

Con el vacío dejado por el grupo superstar pop/punk Blink-182 en otoño de 2005, el cantante y guitarrista Tom De Longe presentó la formación de Angels & Airwaves.
