iTunes Review

Frank Marino’s unapologetic love of Jimi Hendrix’s guitar sounds didn’t break boundaries, but it did showcase some incredible musicianship. “I’m Going Away” opens to reveal a man playing for the pure fun of plugging in, turning up, and rocking out with pure abandon. Sure, the tune heavily echoes “Crosstown Traffic,” but it could be argued that if Marino had tried to cleverly disguise his Hendrix worship, Mahogany Rush would have been compared to Cream. The following “Man at the Back Door” intersects his Electric Ladyland–inspired leads with wah-wah clavinet that’s more saturated in Stevie Wonder–esque funk, while “Jive Baby” makes good use of twin guitar harmonies and unpredictable sideways rhythms. Throughout Mahogany Rush IV, various Mellotron flourishes can be heard, especially on the mellow bluesy ballad “It’s Begun to Rain.”

WOW!!!! Finally available

I've played guitar for 30 plus years and this guy is one of my biggest influences. Took a long time to get this classic back on the market.
You won't be disappointed. Frank is truly one of the greats. I stood 5 feet from this guy and watched him play all night at the Club Dimension
in northwest indiana back in the early 90s.

My first rock concert

I attended Culver Military Academy and every year, the senior class was treated to a show in a small auditorium with the featured band and the senior class....only. The year before was Styx and for my year, 1976, it was Frank and his 3 man band. I was laying down with the feet propped on a small stage with Frank 6 feet away. He jammed for nearly 3 hours and we all simply loved it. I could not hear correctly for days it seemed. Going to order this album to remember.
