The Jordan Patterson Band - The Back On Track Recording Project

The Jordan Patterson Band - The Back On Track Recording Project

This recording was a work in progress that offers up some of the finest Blues-Rock-Funk infused music to come out in a long time. This is a top notch, and tight unit consisting of five musicians working together in harmony. They are: Darryl Romphf (Guitar & BG vocals),
Bobby Thompson (Guitar & BG vocals), Ben Rollo (Drums, percussion, BG vocals),
Mark McIntyre (Bass), and, or course, Jordan Patterson on (Harp & vocals). Special Guests include, Skyler Jordan (BG vocals) & Scott Galloway (keyboards).

“Favourite Boy” opens the set strong and my first reaction was like Deep Purple on steroids that develops into a harp driven rocker. “Can We Fall In Love Again” slows things down and allows you to catch your breath. The song is about repairing and saving that special relationship you don’t want to lose. There’s some wonderful singing and guitar playing here. My ears detect some Lenny Kravitz style of vocal, but don’t get me wrong, Mr. Patterson is his own man.

“She’s Cool” is the third track. I love this song. It’s drips with some serious harp tone, heavy guitar riffs and great lyrics. Mr. Patterson is getting it done. “You’re My Girl” is a nice up tempo number with some accompaniment from Ms. Skyler Jordan. A nice feel good song. “Living Without Your Love” has a nice, funky groove that ramps up into a right rocker. “Play My Song” opens with some thunderous drums and tuneful harp playing. This is a nice rocking number that gets you moving.

“If You’d Help Me Please” is a down and nasty Chicago styled, and heavy duty Blues track. This is my hands down favorite track, and my personal highlight. This song has it all; big drum sound, monster bass, searing guitar and some fine harp playing. The lyrics are great. They are definitely in that Blues category. There’s some hurt in here. Up next is, “Do You Believe”, which is an upbeat and happy song that’ll get you out of your seat.

“Heartbreaker: is a solid and and heavy styled rocker not to be missed. The last song on this recording is called “Don’t Take Me Down”. It closes the set out nicely. This is a killer cut.

The bottom line is that “The Back On Track Recording Project” is a great collection of finely written and well executed songs by a bunch of cats who are having a mess of fun. I bet these guys are a bunch of fine to see live. In the meantime, add the Jordan Patterson Band’s new album to your collection. You won’t be sorry.
