Album Review

The Best of Warrant collects all of the band's singles for Columbia, plus album tracks mostly culled from Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich and Cherry Pie. Since Warrant was primarily a singles band whose albums were often cluttered with unmemorable filler, this is the most consistent single disc in their catalog, even with the pointless remake of Queen's "We Will Rock You," and it's the most entertaining way to hear some of pop-metal's best singles, like "Down Boys" and "Sometimes She Cries." A case could be made for more material from Cherry Pie, which was more consistent than its predecessor, but The Best of Warrant is all that anyone but the devoted will need.

One of my Fave Bands!

Warrant is incredible! And this collection is all you'll ever need, and I have to say is a solid listen all the way through. First get this in your head, Warrant dows not make "unmemorable filler" as stated in the album review. In fact, I found myself enjoying DRFSR, and Bed of Roses a lot, and I highly recommend those along with Thin Disguise, Big Talk, 32 Pennies, and Machine Gun. Of course my favorites on the album are gonna be the memorable hits (Down Boys, Sometimes She Cries, Cherry Pie, Uncle Tom's Cabin, and my all time favorite: Heaven). Heaven in truly an amazing song ad deserved to be #1 not #2. Hurray for being 14 and crying when heaven came on at middle school graduation! So many good memories. The critics can go screw themselves, cause this is music of the people, and they obviously are above us people by saying such disparaging things about bands like Warrant (who are amazing). The only small complaint (Small) i have about this album is that bitter pill is missing, which might be my favorite Warrant song. But Nonetheless, a solid listen, from a solid band (5/5)

Such a sad day in Warrant history. RIP Jani!

Jani Lane Gone Too Soon

Sad day for rock & roll. We lost a great artist, singer and songwriter. I will always love his music, it brings back great memories of the 80's.

With a pair of double-platinum albums and three Top Ten singles, Warrant were one of the most popular pop-metal bands of the late '80s. Formed in Los Angeles in 1984, the group weathered several lineup changes before solidifying around the talents of vocalist Jani Lane, guitarist Erik Turner, guitarist Joey Allen, bassist Jerry Dixon, and drummer Steven Sweet. The band signed with Columbia Records in January 1988 and released Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich one year later; by that summer, it had...
