14 Songs, 51 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Fitting for a movie centered around an aged L.A. stoner who cares only about bowling, White Russians, and area rugs, The Big Lebowski loads up on breezily off-kilter tunes from some of rock’s greatest oddballs, like Captain Beefheart’s 1972 folk-soul curio “Her Eyes Are a Blue Million Miles” and Moondog’s street-busker symphony “Stamping Ground.” As per the Dude’s wishes, there is no Eagles music here, though Gipsy Kings’ flamenco-kissed cover of “Hotel California”—like his ill-fated, urine-soaked carpet—really holds the room together.

THE DUDE!

A Must For Dude Lovers

mr glass

This soundtrack is a little different from most in that the Coen Brothers made an effort to include the more obscure songs from their cult classic rather than the more accessible ones. If you're one of those people who have memorized every other line in the movie, you're gonna kick yourself for not buying this sooner.

(note to Shabbas: Actually, the Dude hates THE EAGLES. He was thrown out of a cab for complaining about Glenn Frey's "Peaceful Easy Feeling". He LUVS Creedence. His tapes were stolen by little Larry. He was later seen jamming to "Lookin' Out My Backdoor" before slamming into a dumpster.)

Ignore the other reviews. The Dude hates The Eagles, he loves CCR. So do I and this mix rocks.
