Can't get enough of this band! Love their blues/folk blend and the mix of harmonies from the guy and girl work really well. Big Oil Spill is one of my fav songs!

Very Strong Indie Band Debut

Hints of Dawes, though they never quite get to the transcendental point that The Brothers Goldsmith achieve. Also Dr. Dog and Silent Comedy come through on these haunting, reverb-laden tracks. I can't quite wrap my head around the female lead vox, though. While she has a natural ease in her phrasing and a pleasing pitch, her voice is seemingly a little too "unique" to the point of being almost gimmicky. But solid lyrics, melody, and musicianship, along with a production value that rivals any lo-fi recording released since Music From Big Pink warrants this debut 4 stars. I can't wait to hear what they follow this up with. Houndmouth are yet another band that proves Louisville music is worthy of much more national acclaim than it receives.

This band is absolutely amazing live and it bleeds through their recordings. A must own for anyone interested in modern American music. Proud to say they are local (to me) and I wish them all the luck they deserve.
