Editors’ Notes

Though many grander and more inclusive Simon & Garfunkel greatest-hits albums have been issued since this album’s 1972 appearance, Simon & Garfunkel’s Greatest Hits remains a sentimental favorite for the obvious care that went into its sequencing and for its inclusion of four previously unreleased live tracks. In 1972, there were no live albums available from the duo, so the addition of concert versions of “For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her,” “The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy),” “Homeward Bound," and “Kathy’s Song” were a major deal. Besides, the remaining songs on this set proved to be timeless staples that transcend their genre and era.
