Miles Hunt, one of the decades BEST song writers

I was once told that these lyrics are TOO SMART for rock-and-roll. I was listening to The Cake at the time. No matter if you listen to The Wonder Stuff, Vent 414, or Miles solo/ acoustic, If you really listen to the lyrics, REALLY listen, you'll understand it and get it! I love just about everything he has done and this CD is awsome.Play Me Music is my favorite then The Cake. Thanks Miles! In a time when music kinda sucked (87-present)you gave me something to listen to.

Looking Ahead

It's a pleasure to hear singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Miles Hunt progressing with his work instead of taking the easy route of becoming a nostalgia act. Everything you love about the Wonder Stuff and Miles is here, but with deeper country roots and a grinning, happy passion for his craft. This man clearly loves what he does.

Like Fine Wine

I met Miles Hunt this evening. He is one hell of a performer and a nice guy. He is also a great songwriter. He blends his talent with good humor and wit. And he just gets better. If you don't believe me, Check out Back On the Charm Offensive. It reminds me a little of his Michael Stipe line on Maybe. Speaking of which, if you are the one person who came here and doesn't own Wonderstuff, it's him. Get Hup and Never Loved Elvis now. Actually you can't go wrong. Corny But True is simple and sweet. It has a line that goes something like "Everything's better when you're around". It's not only direct and honest, but also suggests the title. Note To Self is just that to his younger self. Smart, and sung beautifully. If you don't like him, then you won't. Tastes differ, fashions change. But whether you appreciate his style, voice, musicianship or not, one thing can't be denied. He should better appreciated for what he is, an excellent songwriter.

Years Active: '90s, '00s

As leader of the Stourbridge, England band the Wonderstuff, Miles Hunt was able to not only enjoy chart success, but he was able to do it with one hell of a sneer on his face. By 1994, however, the Wonderstuff were no more, breaking up after that summer's Phoenix Festival. Hunt returned in 1995, fronting the short-lived Vent 414. After one album, Vent 414 was no more, and Hunt found himself on his own once again. The year 1998 saw him reuniting with former Wonderstuff member Malcolm Treece, during...
