iTunes Review

Classic rock radio was an interesting idea until its listeners started to wonder where new music would come from. Every once in a while a young band would show up that sounded pre-fitted for the format; thus Counting Crows, The Wallflowers, and even Hootie & The Blowfish landed themselves a spot on the dial in the '90s. But it's been a bit trickier in the 21st century, as the format has aimed to update itself every decade to stay in line with its key demographics. Now having a late-'70s and '80s sound has become more acceptable, and new bands have been allowed to stretch their guitars toward Foreigner-like AOR or nearer to Wilco/Jayhawks-like Americana. Austin's Wild Feathers relocated to Nashville and went for the latter definition of "classic rock." With their organ-to-guitar wall of rock, they recall Tom Petty's Heartbreakers and Wilco with touches of The Jayhawks, as "Backwoods Company," "I Can Have You," "I'm Alive," and "Got It Wrong" immediately suggest.

Yeah Boy!

Have the album already because I was blown away when I saw them live in Montauk, NY the other night and bought the CD (1st CD I've bought in 8 years btw). Its like taking Tom Petty, The Black Crowes, OLD Rod Stewart from long ago and The Eagles and putting the best parts in 1 band! There are 4 singers and the harmonies are nothing short of incredible! Enjoy!

Love this music!

It's about time that great new music like this is back on the planet.

They don't need a genre.

I don't even want to categorize this album/band because its something almost anyone would enjoy.

The Wild Feathers are incredible instrumentalists and the singer's voice seems to draw you into his story, welcoming and full of rich Georgia roots. These songs, which seem to be influenced by many different American folk, rock, country and bluegrass, bring a new enthusiasm while maintaining the old comfortability of tradition.

I would have to say my favorite is Left My Woman, as I am a sucker for big full 3 part harmonies and they certainly do a bang up job of it.

Do yourself a favor and grab the album. I think we'll be seein more from these boys and you wouldn't want to miss their debut!!

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '10s

Formed in 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee around the talents of Ricky Young, Joel King, and Taylor Burns, all of whom had served as lead singers in their previous bands, the Wild Feathers came together out of a shared love for all things Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, the Band, and the Allman Brothers. Preferring the term "American" over Americana, the Wild Feathers eventually inked a deal with Warner Bros. and found themselves opening shows for Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. The band's eponymous...
