Album Review

Featuring both sides of four 12" singles from 1985 to 1989, 12" Anthology offers the best introduction to Skinny Puppy's psycho-terrorist industrial music. From the early double-sided classic "Dig It"/"The Choke" to later offerings like "Chainsaw" and "Assimilate," only the best of SP's 1980s output is collected here.

Unrested Refreshness

I suppose that I should start by saying that I am not really a fan of hits albums to begin with.
However, the original 80's music from Skinny Puppy was absolutely astounding!
That is why I am so disappointed that a hits album would include remixes before introducing the original music.
If you are looking for the original, harsh, perfectionist work of Skinny Puppy, buy all of these songs in their original form before listening to this.
Because there is nothing better than the first number of albums from Skinny Puppy when it comes to refreshing beginners.
It already takes a little while before you are able to appreciate the menacing talent put into their work, so why taint that with remixes and edits?
Hit albums are supposed to be introductions for beginners. If you are a beginner or older fan looking to be refreshed, make sure you are perfectly content with the originals first. These songs are very good for their collector's and rarities' value, but they are definitely not something to begin with unsettled.

That is not to say that these songs are not worth buying. They are in themselves amazing...but the originals are the songs to start with.

Amazing industrial

A friend borrowed my copy of this CD and never returned it. A pretty good endorsement.

Finally I get to experience it again!

Honestly, I think these tracks are the most accessible Skinny Puppy songs for someone new to Skinny Puppy. But damn, it's been 20 years! Does it sound dated? I have no idea!

Assimilate, Testure, Dig It still sound great, but then again I was a teen in 1990.

This still sounds fresh and new!

Just was burning all my Skinny Puppy cds (why I havent done it sooner??) and had to purchase choke and addiction due to a scratch on my cd. I fully agree with you on listening to the originals first. S P were so ahead of there time!
