Reseña de álbum

Typically, Vanessa Williams' albums are mixed bags. She's at her most exciting when taking chances and coming from the heart, and at her worst when recording frightfully dull material that is designed strictly for commercial radio airplay. This is certainly true of her sophomore effort, The Comfort Zone. Williams is at her best on the sexy, alluring title song and a striking remake of the Isley Brothers' "Work to Do," and at her worst on the hit adult contemporary ballad "Save the Best For Last." The song isn't genuinely romantic, only corny and insipid. One wishes Williams would stick to songs that are worthy of her, but when artists are under pressure from labels to sell as many albums as possible, artistic considerations easily fall by the wayside.

A Powerhouse in the Making...

This is Vanessa Wiliams' well-deserved crown. The album radiates with the newness of a perfomer looking to make her mark, and doing so with flawless precision, with tracks that have become dancefloor classics, still relevant today, and emotional, genuine love songs that speak to the emergence of new love. Standouts on this album include the title track with its silky seduction that would make any man break the sound barrier to rush home to her (note the flute solo); "Running Back to You"; a powerful dance cut that not only forces the listener to move, but appreciate the scorned lover in us all; "Work to Do"; a remake of an Isley Brothers' track that is sassy and determined; and one of the defining love songs of the '90's, "Save the Best for Last" with its sincerity and passionate vocals. Truly a stand out work from a woman reborn.

I think the iTunes review written here is completely harsh.. Vanessa at her WORST on 'best for last'? Like, really? Amazingly, EVEYONE else on the planet likes that song though my favorite, admittedly, is 'running back to you'. HIT.

It's an Early 90's Great

Vanessa Williams showed us what it was like to have heart and soul in the early 90's. With the end of Gulf War I drawing near, people needed to hear music like this. Soothing, soft side with some upbeats to get you going. Plus, this album has one of her best tracks ever on it: "Save the Best for Last." Also, you cannot deny the hot cover here... even if you hate the music, i know you'll like the album cover! lol. So, to sum it all up for you, this album is one you need for your music library. Your iPod will thank you down the road. :-)
