iTunes Review

Sydney-based Sienna Skies deliver a metalcore kick with plenty of blood and muscle behind it on their sophomore album, adding enough experimentation to their hellacious roar to make the results interesting as well as assaultive. Instead of just hammering out hardcore clichés, the band brings a sense of dynamic tension and release to these tracks. Cogent riffage and blast-beat volleys create shifting textures beneath Steve Faull's howling vocals. With a deft hand, the smoldering aggression within tunes like “Realization” and “Foundations” gives way to soaring melodic passages before descending back to the depths. “Sooner or Later” takes the band to a particular peak of violent anguish, powered by Damon Brohier’s explosive drumwork. The twin guitar lines of Michael Sankey and Nick Musgrave interweave with impressive nuance, hinting at prog-rock instincts without sacrificing hardcore brutality. It all comes together in “Achiever,” an anthemic number with a memorable pop hook driven home by a shout-along chorus. All told, The Constant Climb suggests that Sienna Skies are just starting to reach their peak.

Seems good

Truest of Colors is by far their best cd before this one. But I have high hopes for this album. All the previews sound great. Directions sounds different than on the single but still sounds great! I can't wait to buy this and I can't wait for more Sienna Skies! Keep it up guys!

Quality release just.....

After quite a few listens I think I'm a bit disappointed. I loved Truest of Colours, and could not wait for this record. I'm bummed that they skimped on the clean vocals, and the record just doesn't have that catchy quality the last one did. The music is very good and so are the vocals, it's just not the energetic masterpiece that "Truest" was. Still, buy it!

So I'm a pretty big fan of these guys and they went a different way on this album. It still sounds great and easily a 5 star but there isn't enough clean vocals for my liking. One of their best qualities was mixing it all up from unclean to clean and then a nasty breakdown.. But good job guys.. (:
