Customer Reviews

Very good arrangements, a little short on power

This band keeps popping up as a genius recommendation when I play Maserati, so I went ahead and gave it a shot. This band has alot of talent, both creatively and technically. The picture this band paints is of an active african landscape with lots of details. I suppose I docked a star because while I love dreamy atmospherics, I was hoping for a bit more guitar-power out of this band. To take the analogy further, it seems to focus more on the songbirds and antelope and less on the leopards and hippos in the african landscape. Songs like "Floruit" and "A Secret Society" almost make it but then seems to poop out right where the big climax should be.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this album, but it left me wishing for more explosive power. So if you enjoy well arranged emotional guitar melodies that aren't overwhelming, this band is for you. If you find yourself on the more overwhelming side of well arranged emotional guitar melodies (e.g., Mogwai, Jakob, Explosions in the Sky), this might not be for you. If you love this and the more explosive stuff also, may I recommend Maserati's "Inventions for a New Season".

A Great Followup for Signal Hill!!!

Signal Hill does it again! A great followup to their 1st album. Instrumental rock fans will love this! Buy it today!

Strong Second Album

With a lot of post-rock bands... along their music path they make a lot of changes and there's always an album or a few songs that I dislike.. I loved the entirety of their EP and I can honestly say I cannot find a single bad part about this album. Amazing.
