15 Songs, 42 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Lead singer Mark Oliver Everett’s mellow tones remain soothingly constant with plenty of orchestral influences present in Eels’ latest offering—especially in the title track’s dark strings and “Rusty Pipes” with its subtle choral background vocals. “You Are The Shining Light” provides throwback with a ‘60s style drum beat and a piercing electric guitar lead, while the atmospheric “In Our Cathedral” gives that warm, fuzzy feeling—making The Deconstruction a reflective look at life through varied pop and rock styles.

I was a late comer to Mark & the Eels. At first it was his lyrics, then his haunting music adaptations, but now wow...the combination of all is a climax to musical quality. I have seen & heard music from everyone is just about every genre for over 40 years. I think he ranks up there with the very best. This album/cd is just plain excellent!

One Of The Best

I’ll admit I haven’t gotten into the last few Eels albums, but this is one of the best. The songs sound deeply personal on a level not heard since Electro Shock. The album tells a story of the deconstruction and reconstruction of E. If anything download the track Rusty Pipes. It’s been on repeat since it’s release. Bravo E!!!
