Taking Control

Cinder Road, it took some time but I finally learned to love your music. They are truly great. Their second - "Superhuman" is what drew me in (and it's terrible how iTunes doesn't have it anymore) with its first four tracks. And after listening to those repeatedly I thought - "I really need to look into this band, I need more music by them." and so I did. And with that I completed Superhuman and sought out to see if they had anything else to offer. Thankfully they did, older stuff from their previous name "Plunge" with their 1st CD "Hometown Hero" and like "Superhuman" it took some time to grasp Hometown Hero but after one or two start to finish listens I feel in love with it, songs like "Stuck in Madison" with it's electrifying feel and "Wasted on Your Love’s" opening is what really stuck out. Then a softer side, "Heaven" which made me really stop and think. All in all this band is great. They never disappoint if you just give them the chance, because believe me. They will WOW you. And this album, unlike the others didn't take anytime at all. I immediately fell in love with it. "Loosing Ground" is my favorite and there is just something about "Tennessee" that gives me goose bumps. These songs truly stick out on the album and for me as I listen I relate to songs by the Goo Goo Dolls and Daughtry, but hey. That's just me. And then the songs "The Worst Way" and "Sex Addict" remind me a little of Buckcherry as I think of "Crazy B". It's really had to pick certain songs because they all stick out and are all phenomenally different. I actually acquired the CD almost three weeks ago from their website and was totally worth it, and if you buy this album you’ll be glad you did.

One of the most solid and consistent releases in recent memory...

This is a great straight ahead rock and roll album from start to finish. The opening track "The Worst Way" is so catchy that I found myself replaying the song several times before I even allowed myself to listen to the second track. "Sex Addict" is a great rocker, though a little out of place lyrically considering the maturity of the songwriting found on the rest of the album. (Think Nickelback or L.A. Guns; that's still a compliment). "Losing Ground" is a solid rock ballad, one of many found on this album. In fact, some of the songs would not seem too out of place on a Matchbox 20 record, showing the bands diversity. Give a listen to "More" as a great example. "It Hurts" is yet another great rock song with heartfelt lyrics, and a great choice for a single. "The Devil Made Me Do It" pics up the pace as another barnstorming rocker, and the album's closer "Without You" is just a fantastic acoustic ballad. The great thing about these songs is you could strip them down acoustically (which they apparently do live) and they are still great songs. A sure sign of a solid rock record and a highly recommended release to anyone who likes high energy arena rock and roll with a modern feel. I saw these guys live in Baltimore opening for veterans Stryper and they delivered the goods live as well. Fantastic!

The best!!

Damage Control is an amazing album from amazing guys!!!
Cinder Road is truly what music should be, fun!!!

Biography

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s

As long as you understand he's talking circa 2007, then singer Mike Ruocco's declaration that his band Cinder Road are "old-school rock with new-school validity" is right on the money. The radio-friendly songs, the dramatic lyrics, and the guts-and-glory sound all came together in 2005 when guitarists Chris Shucosky and Pat Patrick, drummer Mac Calveresi, and bassist Nat Doegen joined Ruocco and formed Cinder Road. Named after the street where they grew up, Cinder Road were sure to draw attention...
