iTunes Review

There have been countless greatest-hits collections from The Doors over the years. Which is odd, considering the group issued just six studio albums with singer Jim Morrison between 1967 and 1971. It's advisable to someone with a keen interest in the group to collect each of those originals, as opposed to a hits collection, since eventually fandom will lead to seeking out the full albums. For those certain they won't need another Doors record, this is a decent 20-song collection, highlighted by the six-and-a-half-minute edit of "The End" (which clocked in at 11:41 on the debut album). Here, seven cuts are from the self-titled debut album, four are from Strange Days, three are from Waiting for the Sun, two are from Morrison Hotel, three are from L.A. Woman, and only "Touch Me" is from The Soft Parade.

iTunes shortened, The End ;(

I love The Doors, though I am a bit upset that iTunes shortened, The End. Thy removed about 5 minutes out of the song and you can't buy the full version on iTunes... Grr :(

Don’t buy this version

DO NOT SPEND $20 like I just did in error. There is another version of this Doors Essentials that contains the entire version of The End and When the Music’s Over. I made the mistake of not comparing the 2 versions in more detail before I said YES & I refuse to spend another $20.00 primarily because Apple wants to force you into buying the entire recording vs individual downloads. I am going to file a complaint but I don’t except any help from Apple. iTunes purchases are typically one & done..if you screw up too bad. You know I have a house full of Apple products but it’s these cheapskate tactics that infuriate me. Apple prides themselves on Customer Service…….but forcing you to buy & no refund on iTunes is pretty much monopoly 101

I bought "The End" from this album and unfortunately they cut out the end of "The End". This is unacceptable. The only way you can buy a full version of "The End" is if you buy an entire album, which I would do if other songs on the album were not censored. For example, the word "high" is taken out of "Break on Through". PLEASE FIX THIS ITUNES!! I am an adult and should be able to purchase uncensored music. Perhaps we should get Dee Snider involved??

Formed: July, 1965 in Los Angeles, CA

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '60s, '70s

The Doors, one of the most influential and controversial rock bands of the 1960s, were formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by UCLA film students Ray Manzarek, keyboards, and Jim Morrison, vocals; with drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger. The group never added a bass player, and their sound was dominated by Manzarek's electric organ work and Morrison's deep, sonorous voice, with which he sang and intoned his highly poetic lyrics. The group signed to Elektra Records in 1966 and released its...
