Editors’ Notes

Todd Snider’s a singer-songwriter who isn’t satisfied writing the same old love songs. He’s a writer who likes to find a subject and twist it until some form of truth is wrung from the investigation. He does so with a minimum of fuss — an acoustic blues guitar here, a ragtime piano there — so his voice and message can be heard loud and clear. Yet, the music remains muscular. That’s one tough harmonica driving “Slim Chance” and a firm, uncompromising piano setting up the simple but effective rhythm section of “Greencastle Blues,” as Snider recounts the trouble his narrator has found while admitting he’s learned nothing from his experiences but the ability to make things worse. The murderer singing to us for “Unorganized Crime” shows no remorse, but Snider imbues his tactlessness with a perverse charm, giving us a laugh when we least expect it. “Bring ‘Em Home” asks to send our troops out of harm’s way, while “America’s Favorite Pastime” recounts a baseball no-hitter thrown by Doc Ellis while tripping on LSD.

THE Excitement Plan

Todd Snider at his best. Each song tells a great story as only Todd can tell them. The next best thing to seeing and hearing him live (and I'll do just that this week in Atlanta).

I lost 50 pounds using the Excitement Plan!

Todd Snider continues to make me laugh. And sing along. The Excitement Plan is best used by open minded people, and those who need to open up their mind. I'm gonna "take care of all of my friends" some day too. LOL.

Sorry Todd, This just aint the best.....

As much as it pains me to do this, I can not rate this higher than 3 stars. Three stars for Todd is still better than 5 stars for anyone else on Itunes however! This one just hasn/t gotten me yet like most Todd CDS do. There are a couple of good songs here, Americas Favorite Pastime, Money, Compliments, Publicity, Good Fortune. As much as I want to rate this higher for the Peace Queer himself, I can not do it. Thanks Todd for another great album!!!!

Singer/songwriter Todd Snider first garnered attention for his timely alt-rock satire "Talkin' Seattle Grunge Rock Blues," a folk-rock song that struck a chord with younger people fed up with angry alternative rock bands, and at the same time, appealed to aging rockers who grew up with the folk revival of the 1960s. Snider was born in Portland, Oregon, and grew up in Santa Rosa, Austin, Houston, and Atlanta. After moving to Memphis in the mid-'80s and establishing residency at a local club named...
