iTunes Review

In case the flesh-eating astronauts on Municipal Waste's album cover didn't spell out its story clearly enough, here's the deal: The Fatal Feast is a midnight movie waiting to happen, charting the course of everyone's favorite thrash-metal revivalist band as it floats through space with limited supplies and a salivating crew of bug-eyed zombies. Or something. The plot doesn't really matter at the end of the day; the riffs do. And there are plenty vying for your attention here, as Ryan Waste delivers swift solos alongside a rapid-fire rhythm section while frontman Tony Foresta frantically tells stories. The Fatal Feast is the first Municipal Waste full-length to feature special guests, from the familiar (cleanup-gang choruses from the lead singers of Avail and Nuclear Assault) to the left field (Zombi's Steve Moore providing lava-like synth suites on "Waste in Space" and the title track). The latter is kept to a minimum, however, ensuring that most of this record is used to score circle pits and crushed beer cans. Any fan worth his or her weight in denim vests and back patches wouldn't have it any other way.

Carrying the Torch

Municpal Waste continue to carry the torch for real Thrash music. They're a combination of Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, Exodus and their own thrashing techniques, but also draws from the NWOBHV sound at times.Gotta love the attidude they embody. The names of the songs alone makes one curious. Upon a few listens this one is going to eat up a lot of time for those interested in raging, throwing em back and stellar attidudes.

Like Ear Nachos.

Yeah, you read that title correctly.

You son't listen to the Waste for innovation, progressive ideas, and to have your thoughts provoked. You listen to them because they bring the good old fast and fun thrash to the table. They aren't the musical equivalent of a four-star French cuisine... They are like muscial nachos. Nothing nutritious, but holy crap are they addictive and delicious! My point is that just as one does not eat ONE nacho...

One simply does not just listen to ONE Municipal Waste song!

Real metal kiddies!

Forget the current metal your listening to now children for this is how real metal is played! None of this 5 min. Breakdowns or emo whining or Justin Beiber vocal crap! Strait up razor guitars, blasting drums & in your face vocals! Bring back the old school!!!!

Biography

Formed: Richmond, VA

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s

From choosing a name that makes them sound like some sort of urban public works department, to their music itself, Richmond, VA's Municipal Waste openly bow down to the memory of '80s thrash metal and crossover — twenty years after, and a few hundred miles away from the original movement's heyday in New York City. Led by picturesquely named vocalist Tony "Guardrail" Foresta, Municipal Waste played their first show on New Year's Eve 2001, then spent the next few years working on demos, recording...
