Album Review

After achieving moderate success with The Right to Rock, Keel returned to the studio with Kiss' Gene Simmons in the producer's chair for its third album, 1986's The Final Frontier. The record was a small improvement over its predecessor, and eventually reached gold status with the help of a cover of Patty Smith's "Because the Night" and the power ballad "Tears of Fire." Still, much of Keel's material is cliché-ridden mid-'80s pop-metal, with generic jock lyrics and muscular riffs. Even high-profile guest appearances by such stars as Joan Jett and Michael Des Barres on "Raised on Rock," "Arm and a Leg," and "Rock and Roll Animal" barely keep things interesting.

Classic Hair-Metal!

...Aaaaahhhh, the good 'ol days... Although a bit less "raw" then The Right To Rock, these more polished gems were still worth a listen to back in the day & that carries over to today as well. I saw them at The Penny Arcade (Charlotte, NY) back in '85 (?) just before they dropped this one, great show with some good friends, & "Because The Night" was a staple on the drive to Summer School the following year. Good times!!! If your a fan of "that 80's Hair-Metal" sound, give 'em a try, they won't disappoint.

This is one of the most overdue albums on itunes! THANKS!!!! An all out classic for those of us who know 80's Metal!

My favorite KEEL album finally available on iTunes!
