A refreshing variety of Pop Americana songs!

I was fortunate to hear this album in advance of its release. This album stays fresh with many song styles and themes. I am delighted at the whimsical to adult themes that roll through the album. Angela steers clear of the traditional country themes, and although recorded in Nashville it does not sound like Nashville Country. Clearly performed by world class professional musicians that don't spend their day on music row. The drum beats are fresh to this genre of music, and they draw me in to many of the songs. Angela's voice is not one of those American Idol "over the top" styles but has a soothing quality with a singer songwriter flair. She clearly surrounds herself with musicians that give her songs fertile soil to flourish. This album will really grow on you like sunflowers in July!

Americana at its finest!

I had the privilege of seeing Angela and the Beguilers perform this album in its entirety, days before its scheduled release date. I knew instantly it was going to be a special album. While "Maria, My Friend" may have been the track that got her selected as a Telluride Troubadour Competition finalist, "Manifest Destiny" is the album's standout track. Like "BlackTop Road" before it, the song was inspired by her family's struggle with losing parts of their farm to commercial development. Interestingly, Angela compares the modern land struggle, with that the Cherokee faced in the 18th century. Guitarist Brandon Turner contributes the terrific lead track, "The Fish & The Bird", and also duets with Angela on "Never Got That Far".
While retaining an overall Americana feel, you'll find elements of pop, rock, country and gospel mixed throughout "Beguiler". With one great song after another, you will no doubt be listening to it over and over again.
