About Gene Moore

A Houston-based contemporary gospel singer that bears such secular influences as Donnie Hathaway and Stevie Wonder, Gene Moore released his long-awaited debut The Future in 2017.

A son of two pastors, Gene Moore grew up surrounded by music and the church, singing with the Southeast Inspirational Choir as a teenager. Initially, Moore intended to pursue broadcasting as his career, but he began to drift back to gospel in his early 20s. He worked as a youth pastor and praise and worship leader, eventually signing with Motown Gospel in October 2013.

Moore took his time to record his first album for Motown Gospel. Over the next few years, he worked as a supporting vocalist onstage and in the studio, while assembling material for his first album. His debut The Future finally arrived in July 2017, preceded by the single "Recover." ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
