iTunes Review

Grey Holiday’s home base may be Austin, Texas, but the Christian pop/rock quartet’s music doesn’t betray much of a Lone Star twang. The Glorious Revolution (2007), their debut release, carries a strong hint of British influence in its high melodic reach and instrumental embroidery. The staccato guitar pulse of “Where You Want Me” suggests the Cure in their early phase, while the piano-centered “Low” contains echoes of Coldplay (with a little Supertramp thrown in). The band tries out these and other motifs with youthful energy and spiritual idealism. Lead singer Matt Minor drops to a whisper as often as he reaches for a dramatic note, and his sense of dynamics is particularly evident on “Let Go.” Lyrically, Grey Holiday contrasts the world’s false illusions (“Revolution,””Let Go”) with an exalted sense of purpose (“Where You Want Me”). The Glorious Revolution gives the impression that Grey Holiday is still in the process of developing its sound. Judging by their sources of inspiration (both musical and spiritual), there’s solid hope of even more fully-defined work from these talented Texans in the future.

Glorious Debut

I first heard of Grey Holiday when I heard their first single "Let Go". I immediatley checked out their webpage and was blown away by every aspect of each song. From the opening anthem Glorious to the closing Low, each song displays creativity and the artists' relationship with God. This albumn won't disapoint.

If you gave up on Christian music, COME BACK!!!!

I found out about this band early in their career because I was friends in college with the lead singer's future wife. Of course I was like, "Yeah, I'm sure the band is good"!!! When I figured they were the usual non talented Christian band. Once I heard some of their songs I completely changed my opinion. They do a great job of mixing quality music with uplifting and thought provoking lyrics. Other than David Crowder, they are the first Christian band I have bothered to listen to in about 8 years. Buy this album!!!! If for some reason you are poor and can't afford the 6.99 you HAVE to get You Belong to Me. It is an amazing song lyricaly and musically. I get goosebumps everytime I listen to it. Guys if you read this I already have envisioned the music video for this song in my head. Kristen knows how to get a hold of me if you want my ideas:) Good luck and God bless in your career. You guys should come and play at Mars Hill if you have time.
