This compilation provides the listener not only with a breathtaking listen, but with a history lesson to boot. The human league before they were "The Human League," the sounds on this recording verge on the experimental rather than the poppy new wave that characterized later League or Heaven 17 recordings. The majority of songs feature dissonant keyboards and/or electronic noise--and yet, almost despite themselves, you can hear the distinctive melodies and vocal stylings that led up to Reproduction and Travelogue, and even Dare. Fantastic stuff for those interested in the early "sound of Sheffield" and those who enjoy early analogue electronica.
