The Songs of My Childhood
I came upon this album and the songs seemed familiar. After a while, I realized this is the casette that my grandma would play when ever I was in the car with her when I was little. These are the songs from when I grew up and they all remind me of my grandma. Of course they're not the modern songs, but they are appropriate for younger children; I haven't heard these songs in years and I can still remember the words if I listen to one.
A Legitimate Review
This is good children's music, especially if you don't mind a folksy flavor. Think cub scouts or summer camp types of songs for the preschool set. My son, aged 2 and 1/2, loves most of these songs (and from Vol. 2 as well) especially if they are high energy ones and have hand motions that go with them. What makes this music listenable is that it is not just kids singing (which makes it difficult for really young children to pick up on the words), or an adult group singing, but has a central, soothing yet playful, adult voice as the main singer with a group of kids as the backup singers. I love to sing and have been singing to my child since he was born, and most of these songs are ones that come up in the "rotation" of mom-tunes. It is nice to know that I've been getting the words right for most of them, too! These are songs that every child 5 and under should know, and this collection is worthy of the Disney label.
Nostalgic and sweet
Uh, NOT idiotic if they mean something to you. These are some of my childhood favorites (I'm 37) and I hope to pass them down to my little one.
