Album Review

Here's one for the cult of Elvis Presley: 22 home recordings (15 previously unreleased) of Presley and pals sitting around the piano and belting out favorites. The sound quality is often poor, but, as the notes say, "priority has been given to historic content." The historic content, besides the fact that it's Presley, is the inclusion of many songs Presley did not otherwise record, and the opportunity to hear the King in informal settings singing alone and in harmony with Red West, Charlie Hodge, and others. If you are fascinated by every detail of his life, then you will find this to be a rare and precious glimpse at the private Presley. If you are a more casual fan hoping for raw or unproduced rock & roll, the spirituals and pop ballads that comprise the majority of the tracks will be a disappointment.

Essential Elvis Presley

To truly understand how remarkable Elvis is, take a listen to this album. This album makes one feel like they are sitting in the room with Elvis at the piano singing away. This is an essential gem to add to your collection if you are a true fan.

Elvis at ease

This what Elvis was all about when in Graceland, he would often sit around and sing with his friends and i believe Priscilla would join in now and then. Elvis in many ways was a perfectionist, if he didn't like the sound he would redo the whole song till it sounded right (including his own voice) This album gives a rare insight into the King's ability to record anywhere he pleased. A great set for hard core fans or for anyone who just loves that man named Elvis

Even Better!

Elvis litterly was the king of rock and roll. This album lets every one know. P.S. I Wish elvis was still living.

Elvis Presley may be the single most important figure in American 20th century popular music. Not necessarily the best, and certainly not the most consistent. But no one could argue with the fact that he was the musician most responsible for popularizing rock & roll on an international level. Viewed in cold sales figures, his impact was phenomenal. Dozens upon dozens of international smashes from the mid-'50s to the mid-'70s, as well as the steady sales of his catalog and reissues since his death...
