iTunes Review

After recording two albums with the Dead Weather, Alison Mosshart puts her energies back into the Kills and there’s a new level of intensity to Blood Pressure. Mosshart adds an entrancing menace to the tracks. “Nail In My Coffin” with its dry, stun-gun guitars and walrus-like “oh-oh-ohs” is a masterful piece of determined tension. “DNA” bops with a garage-rock bounce. “Heart Is a Beating Drum” adds a seductive edge to the bounce. “Satellite” lurches like a sinister machine stalking its prey. “Baby Says” adds a driving new-wave funk that’s pure refreshment. “The Last Goodbye” is a sweeping torch song. “Damned If She Do” is a dark stalker with tons of street attitude and dark fuzzy notes that slip in and out of the mix. “You Don’t Own the Road” nods towards the swamp blues of PJ Harvey. Jamie Hince adds a cameo vocal on the quick and endearing “Wild Charms.” But this is Mosshart’s vocal show and she battles the backing tracks with everything she’s got. Which is considerable.

The LP Hit Just Right….

This is a good LP of music. Can't speak to the lyrics. Not in my listening MO. Though more female voices (continue adding to that total) are available today, my search continued quite a while for a specific voice and music. Bingo, bango, bongo or some such nonsense, this is the LP. I sampled it (only headphones allowed) when it was available earlier in the year. I friggin' forgot to go back. Apparently I need a memory upgrade. Certain to be costly at my digits. Anyway, all is well in my ears now. Drifting, just drifting along. I most definitely would love hear The Kills in a live setting. That I am sure….would have all kinds of cool floatin' about the joint. This review ends with the word Subjective!

Amazing record

As a whole piece of work, my favorite album of 2011 thus far for sure. love the kills and their song writing has really been stepped up a notch. i really love midnight boom and i think this album is different and as perfect

Not Surprised

Good material as usual. I have to say,my favorite thing about this album is the mood; its kind of dark, but with a spark, like in Heart is a Beating Drum,Nail In My Coffin, and DNA. This album is great, but i really recommend Midnight Boom, great stuff on there too.

The bluesy punk duo the Kills consist of vocalist/guitarist VV, aka Alison Mosshart, formerly of the Florida punk band Discount, and drummer/guitarist/vocalist Hotel, aka Jamie Hince. After Discount ended in 2000, VV began exchanging tapes with the London-based Hotel through the mail, but both of them felt hindered by this method, so VV crossed the Atlantic so the duo could write faster. In spring of 2001, they issued a self-released demo that showcased their gritty, sexy sound and earned favorable...
