iTunes Review

Michigan’s Swellers represent the highlights of a 21st-century punk scene that's all about catchy pop hooks, tight pop harmonies, and an occasional double-time track for the skaters in the crowd. Anyone catching 2013’s The Light Under Closed Doors will hear a quick set of 10 tunes driven by hooks that remain long after the album’s brief (less than 30 minutes) play time. “Should” gets things started immediately; it's the tale of another band that wasn’t in the right place at the right time but should’ve been. “Big Hearts” and “Got Social” pace themselves for the quick slow tune “High/Low,” which in two minutes and change provides the melodic breather necessary to give “Great Lakes State” a powerful back-to-business aura. “Becoming Self-Aware” double-times for the skaters. “Designated Driver” delivers a perfect pop-punk song. The moody, midtempo “Call It a Night” ends things; it nears the four-minute mark and serves as the album’s epic track.

Started From The Bottom, Still The Best

The Swellers is one of the hardest working groups I can think of, and they deserve your attention.

This album is packed full of catchy heart-felt anthems. It really showcases the band's songwriting ability.

It is the first release since signing with No Sleep Records and it is the best I ever had.

They still got it

I would have to agree completely with the past review. And this is by far a great step in the right direction for them and a great release on there new label. Honestly I am ready for more from these guys.

The dwellers are dope

It makes me cry everyday that their not more know to the public.

The group's core trio -- singer/guitarist Nick Diener, bassist Nate Lamberts, and drummer Jonathan Diener -- formed in the small town of Fenton, MI, in the summer of 2002. Following a pair of self-released albums, 2002's Long and Hard and 2003's End of Discussion, the trio recorded a full-length debut named Beginning of the End Again and signed to the...
