FINALLY!!!

chia.pet391,

I've been waiting for this cast album since the first time I came into the Lucille Lortel Theater to witness The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical. Through seeing the show a second time, to meeting the cast, and through social media, I feel like I was also a part of this musical and I am as proud of it as possible. It is an incredible album that has extraordinary music while still staying extremely faithful to the books. I don't have a bad thing to say about this musical. I encourage die hard Percy Jackson fans like myself to listen to this album. They will CERTAINLY not regret it.

Prologue/The Day I Got Expelled: An extremely fun, passionate opening number about the beginning of the book. It introduces the story to people who are not familiar with it, and many of the lines are taken directly from the book.

Strong: A beautiful mother/son duet, where Sally explains to Percy that even though he may not always be perfect, "the things that make you different, are the things that make you strong." Also, LOTS of blue food.

The Minotaur/ The Weirdest Dream: The last 30 seconds of this song are what give me LIFE. That's all I am going to say.

Another Terrible Day: Any song that stars GEORGE SALAZAR as Mr. D (Dionysius) is bound to be hilarious. And THE CAMEOS!

Their Sign: This is one of my favorite songs. It explains perfectly how difficult both Percy and Luke had it, and how if not for a wonderful mother, amazing friends, and sheer willpower, Percy could have ended up the same as Luke.

Put You In Your Place: "All Hail Percy Jackson, Supreme Lord of the Bathroom!"

The Campfire Song: This song is soooo funny. And the line "If I sang, I'd probably start an avalanche," is also from the books! One of my favorites.

The Oracle: Can we talk about how a low-budget, off-broadway MUSICAL managed to include the entire first prophecy, but a full length feature film with a multi-million dollar budget forgot to include this critical detail?

Good Kid: I really just love this song. Its an explosion of all the built up pain and hardship Percy has faced over the years, and how it is only getting worse. Yet, even so, he manages to remain a hero.

Killer Quest: ANOTHER one of my favorite songs. Kristin Stokes slays, and its really fun and catchy.

Lost: This might be my favorite song of them all. ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿฟ

My Grand Plan: The ULTIMATE girl power song. Annabeth has been my favorite fictional character as long as I can remember. This song explains her backstory perfectly, while also explaining her ambitions and touching upon her fatal flaw of hubris.

Drive: Can I say how great of a trio Chris McCarrell, Kristin Stokes, and George Salazar make. They are all very close friends off-stange, and their chemistry is undeniable in this super fun and optimistic song. THEY are my Percy, Annabeth, and Grover, forever.

The Weirdest Dream (Reprise): Yet another crucial plot point this musical included that *slipped the mind* of the writers of the movie.

The Tree On The Hill: This song makes me cry. Every time. WHY DOES GEORGE SALAZAR ALWAYS GET STUCK WITH THE MOST HEART-WRENCHING SONGS?

D.O.A.: The song that proved Carrie Compare is a goddess in real life. I could listen to her all day. This song is an amazing take on the underworld. You can visualize it as you listen.

Son of Poseidon: This song empowers me SO much. It develops the character of Percy perfectly. It shows you how strong he is, both physically and emotionally.

The Last Day of Summer: The reprise of Good Kid with Luke? Why must you do this to us Rob๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ But this song is wonderful, and Mr. D makes a glorious return, so how could you not love it?

Bring On the Monsters: This song ties with Lost as my favorite. It gives off so much energy, and it makes you want to go outside and battle a hydra. It closes off the book while also giving you a glimpse into the demigod's future. And then, there's also, "I'll be back next summer!" ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Such an Underrated Musical

matthewisblack,

I saw this show a while ago and was mind blown at how much I enjoyed it. The music, the acting, and the tech were all just supremely amazing. Now I'm glad that I can get awesome soundtrack to listen to while I drive.
