Album Review

Trust Company's major-label debut is a rather standard affair that meshes melody with aggressive vocal screams like many other acts that have sprouted since Linkin Park and Papa Roach scored big in 2000. Despite the simplistic formulas present here, these young men have patched together a sound that is catchy and eager for additional spins. Songs like "Downfall" and "Hover" capitalize in large ways on the nu-metal trend, and are extremely memorable tracks. Occasionally Trust Company slides in melodies that border on the ever-popular punk-pop genre, which helps distance the group from many of its peers. Unfortunately, while The Lonely Position of Neutral has a wealth of strong tracks, it is quite apparent that the group's similarities to Linkin Park may hurt its long-term success, as many may find the band nothing more than the expected carbon copy of other, more successful acts. This is a shame, because those willing to give this album a chance will find one of the most infectious alternative metal albums of 2002. ~ Jason D. Taylor, Rovi

Customer Reviews

This album is pretty cool!

The songs have a fast-paced beat and the lyrics are great. The overall sound is awesome and left me wanting to buy the album. A definite four-star.

Best Band

This band is awesome. They make great songs for a Linkin Park-ish taste. Downfall is their best song out there. Comparing Trust Co to Green Day, Green Day stands no chance. All the songs on the CD are great, not just one or two.

iPod worthy

Honestly a pretty sweet cd.. much much better than True Parallels - definitely worth the moola. It's easy to sit and listen to the whole thing, though some of the songs can sound a bit repetitive.. Not perfect, but a really good hard rock cd

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s

Alternative metal outfit Trust Company (also referred to as TRUSTcompany and TRUST*CO) formed in Montgomery, AL, circa 1997 around Kevin Palmer (vocals/guitar) and Jason Singleton (drums). The two met after high school, initially playing in a local band together before breaking off to create their own group. Distinguishing themselves from the alt-rock pack in their merger of melody with guitar-driven metal, the group took influence from the likes of Pantera, the Smashing Pumpkins, and the Deftones....
