Reseña de álbum

Back in 1966, at the height of Batmania, the producers of the hit television show tried to keep interest high during the summer rerun season by releasing an original, feature-length Batman motion picture. Audiences, figuring it for TV episodes stitched together into a movie (à la Man From Uncle) rather than an original script utilizing the TV stars and sets, stayed away in droves. Still, over the years, the Batman feature became something of a fixture on local television matinee movie slots, giving a generation of fans the chance to see Adam West and Burt Ward battling the Joker, the Penguin, the Riddler, and Catwoman (not to mention a giant rubber shark). Nelson Riddle, creator of the swinging big band sound that shaped the series, returned to duty for the Batman movie, creating a dynamic score that continued to incorporate Neal Hefti's "Batman Theme," as well as the familiar motifs Riddle wrote for the show's central villains. Highlights include "Attack/Take It in Tow," which presents and develops the catchy fight theme, complete with brass hits to accent the "Pows" and "Whams," and Hefti's original "Batman Theme," included as a bonus track. Available exclusively from Film Score Monthly, this CD is a welcome reminder of what made the campy Batman series such a hoot.

Great Bat Time, Great Bat Music!

Lazing1 obviously knows nothing about Neal Hefti's work with regards to the Batman TV show. This is the music composed for that program, conducted by the man who composed it, so to say that it has "nothing to do with Batman" is ludicrous to say the least. With the possible exception of Danny Elfman's music for the two Tim Burton/Michael Keaton "Batman" films, this is the best - and most definitely the best known - Batman music ever composed! It is certainly a lot more fun to listen to than that drivel that was composed for the two Christian Bale "Batman" movies, which in my opinion (different from that of the masses, I know) rate as the WORST Batman screen adaptations ever. I guess that probably shows my age, though, since I was a kid when the Adam West show was aired originally on ABC back in the '60s...

Hefti is amazing!

May he rest in peace... If you loved the TV series with Adam West and Burt Ward, this is a must have!

Hefti, Hefti, Hefti....

Wimpy, Wimpy, Wimpy!!!!! I remember this album as a kid and have had Sewer Lady stuck in my head as well as Eivol Ekdol, the Albanian Genius. However, the album is a decroded piece of crap. There is nothing on this album that has anything to do with Batman at all. Even the theme song has little to do with Batman other than it being a cheesy rendition of an awesome song.

One of the top jazz arranger/composers of the 1950s, Neal Hefti first wrote charts in the late '30s for Nat Towles.
