Fusing elements of death metal, thrash, hardcore, and nu-metal, Feared have released one album for almost every year of their decade-long existence. The Swedish extremists’ eighth full-length boasts a muscular hardcore edge on bellicose tracks like “King of the Dead,” “Hate Mantra,” and “Engines of Death,” but the barrage of burly riffs, lightning-strike solos, and tough-guy vocals is tastefully offset by the melancholy guitars and spoken-word intro of “My Next,” the somber piano interlude “In I Dimman,” and beautiful instrumental closer “Blodspår.”
