I'm seriously the first one to review this album? I happen to love it. My top 2 songs are "And When He Falleth" and "Der Tanz Der Schatten". This was the first Theatre Of Tragedy album I heard, way back when, so I went and bought them all. They are all actually different from one another. Crazy.

"Bring Forth Ye Shadow" and "The Masquerader and Pheonix" caught me instantly. It is amazing at how much this group has changed. I can't give it 5 stars. I reserve the 5-star rating for bands that do it better- Sins of Thy Beloved or bands with more energy- Therion.

AMAZING album! Great lyrics , profound and imaginative. The two voices complement each other perfectly. An incredibly influential album for Goth Metal, I'm always so astonished to find the little recognition this great band gets. The best songs for me are "On whom the Moon Shine", "Seraphic Deviltry" and "Black as the Devil Painteth".

Saltroe (bass), Hein Frode Hansen (drums) and Lorentz Aspen (synthesizer), Theatre of Tragedy orchestrates a different performance piece with each song, while the singers bounce dialogues off...
