iTunes Review

For his fourth holiday project, Christian composer Michael W. Smith goes country, turning to crooners like Vince Gill, Martina McBride, and Lady Antebellum to conjure up some down-home Christmas cheer. Not everyone has a twang, though. Michael McDonald joins Smith on “Peace” and Bono contributes the moody spoken word piece “The Darkest Midnight,” while Amy Grant lends her voice to the haunting new hymn “Almost There.” Meanwhile, Carrie Underwood’s lush vocals on “All Is Well” are a present you’ll want to unwrap again and again.

Great compilation Cd of classic Christmas songs with amazing other artists adding to it.

Prince of Peace

The Lord truly inspired this album. The emotion and importance of Jesus as the centerpiece of the season is the focus of this album. It is not just another remake album, but a well thought out collections of songs that highlight that The Savior was born, and would reign.

Average and Nowhere Near Perfect

I was super excited to find out Michael W. Smith was releasing a new Christmas album. I think the duets are well arranged and I like the song "Almost There" featuring Amy Grant. The orchestration on the songs are glorious.

Now for a few cons. I would like to have heard Michael sing a few more tracks on his own or have more tracks overall. I don't understand why "Christmas Day" appears on this album as it was already done by Michael and Mandisa on a previous album. Why is Bono wasting perfectly good track space with a 1 minute and in my opinion not very good space filler. Finally the album would be great if "Somewhere In My Memory" didn't feature Michael's off key daughter??? That just ruins it for me.

This is a good album but it could have been stellar. I will listen to the album and omit the "Somewhere In My Memory" track. I may seem harsh but really no one is cute when they can't hold a tune kids or adults and I don't want to have to pay to hear that.

Michael W. Smith became one of the most enduringly popular artists in the contemporary Christian music market while also finding success as a mainstream artist. The songwriter was born in Kenova, West Virginia, the son of an oil refinery worker and a caterer. He became a devout Christian at age ten and spent his teenage years around a support group of fellow believers who frequently gathered to create music. That support group split up after high school, and Smith turned to alcohol, drugs, and wild...
