I am currently a vocal performance major in college, so I have been taught that Sarah Brightman is better in her technique, thanks to experience and extensive vocal training. This something I whole heartedly agree with. Even more impressive is Brightman's rare, over three octave range.

This being said, I am not a fan of Brightman at all. There is something unhealthy in the way she sings, it almost sounds pinched.

I can safely say that I like Emmy much more because of her tone quality. Christine is meant to sound innocent and clear, something that I don't think Brightman was able to bring to the table. Although I'm sure much of Emmy's sound may have been generated through a computer for good measure, I do know talent when I see it, and I believe classical musicians need to give credit where credit is due. I like the clarity of the sound, and how simple Emmy's voice is. Brightman brought fancy theatrics and a wonderful range, but I think there is something to be said for how Emmy was able to keep it simple. Although she may have had the songs lowered for her, she presented them beautifully.

Buy this album, you will not regret it.

Wow great people

Andrew Loyd webber has done an excellent job at wowing me on my favorite childhood memory ( I'm 11 I grew up on this music) Gerard butler and emmy rossum are extremely talented

Very beautiful work on Andrew Lloyd-Webber

This album is a beautiful piece of art, in my opinion of course. I feel that Emmy and Gerald together are a phenominal duet. I realize that most people say that Michael What's-his-name is the best phantom ever, but I believe Gerald did amazing for his first time singing throughout the whole movie. This album gives me chills when I listen to it and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for music to keep them entertained. PHANTOM OF THE OPERA FOREVER!!! <3

Andrew Lloyd Webber is the most successful composer of musicals of his generation and also a breaker of molds for the form. His predecessors were, for the most part, American: New York-based songwriters steeped in Broadway tradition. Lloyd Webber saw his share of shows as a child, too, but he was born in London, the son of William Lloyd Webber, Director of the London College of Music, and was trained at the Royal Academy of Music, hardly the sort of place where you'd be likely to hear Oklahoma! ...
