A Big Hit and an Even Bigger Miss

The long awaited collab between iKON's Bobby and WINNER's Mino has finally arrived. However, the album is not the amazing collaberation people were expecting. The EP is split up with two songs under the MOBB name and two with Bobby and Mino as soloists. The unfortunate truth is that autotune is used so much throughout these songs that it takes away any impressiveness that these artists had. The first track is the solo song 'Holup!' by Bobby starts off fine, but regresses into mediocrity with the overuse of autotune over a more than acceptable amount of the track, burying his signature voice behind a cold robotic exterior. The other solo track, 'Body' by Mino holds up slightly more in that it is a natural sounding song, yet something about it is lacking—thankfully it is a grower and becomes the shining song off of the EP. The two collab tracks are the most lackluster on the entire EP sadly. 'Full House' is full of autotune yet has some redeeming factors throughout, and the closing track 'Hit Me' is the absolute worst, so much so that the beat doesn't even save it. Although the vocals are lacking, the production makes up for this in some way by providing punching beats that can feel energetic or tiring in the sense that they turn down the tempo. Overall, not the greatest, and there is significant room for improvement, but not the worst collaberation album.

Dope AF

I never write reviews but this collab is straight fire. Purchased even though I can stream on soundcloud to support dope music!
