Album Review

The heartfelt sounds of delicately blended instruments takes The Nature of Things deep into lyrical heartspace with care and sensitivity. Synthesizer, vocal harmonics, and percussive touches add to the rich acoustic guitar sound, revealing a precious, subtle magic which connects the listener to the uplifting spirit of love, peace and beauty. His clear-sailing melodic lines are mixed with light, bright folk-picking, and the more spacious pieces on each side glisten and gleam with a depth of beauty that expands and deepens over time. His second album is a musical masterpiece, essential to any collection. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats, Rovi

Outstanding music if you need a moment of peace

I've been listening to this cd ever since I discovered it in a bargain bin in 1990. It is absolutely wonderful for simply providing a little peace in the day. My college roommate and I used to joke that we could put this on when going to bed, and neither one of us would still be awake to hear the third song. It is just a very relaxing, simple collection of music. I highly recommend you give it a try.

My old friend

I first discovered this album shortly after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake (aka San Francisco quake). I was suffering from PTSD and getting sleep was really difficult. I used to play this incredibly restful and restorative music when I was having my worst anxiety and felt immediate relief. I might not have been able to sleep, but the music at least made consciousness tolerable. 20+ years later, my daughter is having anxiety issues. I found my Old Friend on iTunes and she was immediately soothed just as I had been so many years ago. This music is a treasure!

Sweet Memories

My husband and I found this "cassette tape" album while on our honeymoon in Gatlinburg in 1989. If I close my eyes while I listen I am taken back to riding through the mountains with the fall leaves raining down as we rode with the windows down enjoying the crisp fresh air and each other's company. Such good memories with this peaceful, relaxing music in the background. As we set out on another road trip to north Alabama, we'll now listen to this great album via USB cord plugged into my phone...times have changed in 27 years!

Years Active: '80s, '90s

This California guitarist and synthesist writes highly melodic, commercially accessible ensemble music. Though he plays most of the instruments himself, his technique on acoustic guitar is most admirable. He's also a well-known luthier -- one of his hand-crafted...
