Don't walk, run...

This is the most gorgeous album to cross my path for some time. I have loved Alasdair and Natalie's playing for years, but this is a whole new sound. The experimentation and playfulness of this album is unrivaled by some of the best jazz out there. The fidelity to Scottish tradition is moving. This music is smoking hot!

Another tremendous album

I've been steadily working my way through most of the albums available on iTunes from Alasdair Fraser. His fiddle is unbelievable, so when Highlander's Farewell was released, I downloaded it right away and have been listening to it for the past six weeks. It's a beautiful album with tremendous interplay between Haas' cello and Fraser's fiddle. If you just want to dip your toe in, I recommend La Sansonette - it's a wonderful bohemian Scottiche that whirls and builds and climaxes with an unreal Fiddle part weaving in and out of the cello (listen to the Fiddle at 3:10 - 3:20 - it's hidden behind the cello and yet unbelievably moving and powerful). In fact - I would say the performance is the double helix set to music and perfectly executed. But - the whole album is worth it.

Love that perfect timing and deliciously executed harmony.

Could not be more polished to my fairly well-schooled ear. A delight for the senses. Totally enjoyable!!
