An Extraordinary Collection of Life-Giving Songs

In this extraordinary collection of new songs, Carrie Newcomer traces the journey of a life from a place of “not-knowing” to the “point of arrival.” It’s a promising and perilous journey on which all of us must find our own way. But if we’re lucky, we will be graced with companions who understand the road’s demands and rewards, and encourage us to walk on. Newcomer’s lyrics, music, and voice embody the paradox I need to stay the course: they are deeply rooted in the earthiness of life, and yet transcendent and transparent in a way that fills me with light. This is music to put ground under your feet and lift under your wings, a precious gift from one well-lived life to others.

Like a breath of fresh clean air, filled with hope, wisdom, and compassion.

The Point of Arrival may be one of Carrie Newcomer’s best albums yet. Her writing reflects insight that only comes from sitting with these concepts for a long time. The songs are diverse but hold true to a central theme of hope, inward journey and finding peace with wherever one may be in the process. The whole album feels like a breath of fresh clean air. Where it acknowledges struggle it does so with hope and compassion and wisdom. I ordered a pre-release copy so I have been listening to the CD for several weeks. That’s the Way These Things Go may be one of the loveliest songs I have ever heard. Carrie’s voice is as clear and true as ever, the musicianship is full but not overproduced, and the artwork is simply beautiful. I am grateful the world has a Carrie Newcomer!
