Album Review

The eighth studio album from Ohio-based industrial/experimental metal collective, The Righteous and the Butterfly, named in honor of the group's original guitar player J.J. Righteous and band photographer and wife of drummer Steve Felton Vanessa Solowiow, both of whom had recently passed away, was recorded in the group's hometown of Cleveland with longtime co-producer Bill Korecky, and features 14 new songs, including a blistering rendition of Adele's "Rumor Has It."

Amazing!

Mushroomhead is the most underated band in the world. So good! Can't wait for the rest of the album to come out.

Terrible

This band is/was one of my favorites. Even have tattoo. But they haven't made a good album since XII. Saviour Sorrow was close but not. This album is like the last. Their sound needs to be experienced and felt live in all it's energy. But not recorded. XII is a masterpiece, it showed all talents. In this, Jeff does more yelling like Waylon andJmann, but he has none of their deep power. His unique sound is what made Mushrromhead different. Now it's just 3 guys yelling. Guitars sound like they were recorded for a demo of a demo. Not pro quality, and just really basic stuff.
It's a real shame when bands start doing things on their own. No outside producer or label to keep them in line and focused. For some reason everytime they make an album, they compare it to getting to their roots from XX and older stuff. That's what they shoot for. They need to shoot for XII. Quality sound, quality hooks, quality riffs, And you can hear every members talents. No one had their sound. Now it's just mud. They sound like any talentless band paying to play at clubs, instead of the talented band that they are that can sell out every show. I love this band, but the last couple albums have started making me think i made a mistake tattooing them on my arm.

Great so far

I have only heard the previews, and the full version of QWERTY so far. But so far this album sounds like XX mixed with BSFUC. You once again have J Mann back in the fold so you have his raps and rhymes. Mix that with Waylon and his screams and growls, and to top that off you have Nothing just ripping it up like he has before and always will. This album adds the new flavors of Church and Dr. F as well, if you have been long time fan of Mushroomhead you know how Gravy and Pig Benis sounded. They had there own sound and Church and Dr. F improve on that. And not to mention Shmotz and the keyboard whizz that he is. Stitch is still there ripping it up with those turntables and synths as well. And lets not forget about the boss man. Skinny’s drumming is like a fine wine. It only is getting better with age, hearing him do the double bass is just amazing and it just gets better. Can’t wait to listen to the full album from start to finish. It so far sounds like a wild ride. Buy this album.
