iTunes Review

The Rolling Stones’ career can be broken into two distinct legal eras. This set represents all the music that ended up under the control of their manager Allen Klein and his ABKCO label: the studio recordings made between the Stones’ earliest days up to “Brown Sugar” and “Wild Horses.” This particular collection centers on the group’s U.K. studio albums, with their early key EPs (The Rolling Stones and Five by Five) included alongside a two-volume No Stone Unturned set, collecting the singles and b-sides that never made a British LP. This also features the Metamorphosis LP of outtakes released in the '70s much to the group's disapproval. This only leaves the questionable live album Got Live If You Want it and the excellent live LP Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out uncollected. Naturally, as any student of rock ’n’ roll can tell you, anything the Stones recorded up to and including 1972’s Exile on Main St. is essential listening. The moments of pure rock ’n’ roll genius are so numerous that these recordings make for a pure and humbling experience.

Everyone that appreciates good music already has all of these albums! Does Itunes really think us stones fans are going to rebuy our albums? These are great songs but we don't need 5 compilations of the same music! I give this five stars for the music but 1 star for the 100th repackage of these songs.

Why is "Get Your Ya's Ya's Out" not included?

Just sayin'.

By the time the Rolling Stones began calling themselves the World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the late '60s, they had already staked out an impressive claim on the title. As the self-consciously dangerous alternative to the bouncy Merseybeat of the Beatles in the British Invasion, the Stones had pioneered the gritty, hard-driving blues-based rock & roll that came to define hard rock. With his preening machismo and latent maliciousness, Mick Jagger became the prototypical rock frontman, tempering...
