A different groove

Gabriella Cilmi has been out of the scene for a while now. So it was a welcome sight to see her return with some new material. "The Sting" marks a huge departure from her second album in terms of genre and style. She ditched the major labels and mainstream song structure to embrace a darker side. It's hard to believe in today's over-sexualized pop world that such a greatly crafted record could exist. Gabriella doesn't disappoint. Upon a few listens of each track and you'll see the raw emotion she's trying to get across. The wounds she is trying to heal with poignant songwriting. Best part is, she doesn't have to twerk to get her point across. She went from an insecure girl to a beautiful woman with a mature outlook far beyond her years. "Symmetry", "Vicious Love", "The Sting", "Kill Ourselves", "Parallel Universe" and "Highway" are the standout tracks to lose yourself into! Please buy the album and give it a good listen. You'll find substance and emotion you won't find in half of 2013's pop output.

Bad Production

I was really looking forward to this album, based on the Vicius Love video, which I loved. It is a dissapointment. My guess is that it is a different producer, though I don't know. Gabriella's voice almost sounds like it is in the background and off. It might be just my taste...I'm not givivng up.

Grows on ya

I really loved the Sweet About Me video and since have really love this girls voice. It's different, and I love how she uses it here. Unlike most artists, her tracks are appealing for different reasons and each sound different or unique in their own way.

A Melbourne-born, U.K.-based singer/songwriter, Gabriella Cilmi possesses a smoky, whiskey-soaked voice that belies her age and a feisty rock attitude that placed her on the inside fast track to pop stardom. Born October 10, 1991, in Dandenong, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia, Cilmi attended Sacred Heart Girls' College in nearby Oakleigh, where, when rebuffed at an audition for a high-school musical and told she lacked the discipline to be a good singer, she was driven to form a garage band and...
