Album Review

In 1998, Philadelphia native Beanie Sigel was just another hungry voice in the crowd. However, after an impromptu verse on the Roots' Adrenaline, he caught the attention of Jay-Z, who quickly inked the young MC to a deal with his Roc-A-Fella empire. While the momentum of a few dazzling collaborations catapulted his meteoric rise up the hip-hop ranks, more importantly it showed an MC who was on the cusp of greatness. Beanie's debut, The Truth, is the culmination of that promise. While Beanie's monosyllabic flow is methodical and offers little variation, his lyrics are remarkably detailed. "What Ya Life Like" is such a frightening depiction of incarceration that it warrants inclusion in any Scared Straight documentary. Also, Beanie ingeniously parallels the life of a drug dealer to that of video-game characters on "Mac Man." Although Beanie is not ready to supplant his esteemed mentor, Jay-Z, he is one of the most intriguing lyricists to emerge in the post-2Pac era.

groundbreaking

i am a huge fan of jay-z, so i decided to check out the other rocafella members. I came across two rappers who are now two are my favorites: Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel. This is definately my favorite of Beanie Sigel's albums. Its one of those albums where i can listen to the whole thing through. Definately buy this album if u r a fan of rap.

why isn't Roc-a-fella pushing Beanie/

this is honestly like a second Blueprint and i dont mean the Blueprint 2. I know i hear B. Sigel name in a lot of Jay-z tracks but its like the public needs to truely recognize the talent we have here. Sigel is better than Bleek, better than Freeway. And anybody who listens to this album will appreciate it. i wanna see Beanie in a Jay-Z video or doing a collab with Kanye. Jay-z's rapping days are over but Beanie Sigels career has never been super mainstream, i mean like cam and kanye. so hand him the mic and then we'll see...still though ups to b. seeg this a hip-hop classic

the truth

this a great album point blank period.jay-z should get back in the lab with this kid because he going to be the next great,i hope he knows that
