iTunes Review

In 2014, ZZ Top issued The Very Baddest, a 40-song compilation bringing music from three different labels onto one release. At 40 tracks, The Very Baddest has all the hits and it reaches into the studio albums for the beloved deep cuts, covering the basic radio and MTV hits (“Sharp Dressed Man,” “Gimme All Your Lovin’,” “Tush,” “Cheap Sunglasses,” “Legs” in its single version) and the band’s early classics (“Jesus Just Left Chicago,” “La Grange”), and slips a handful of further essentials (“Pearl Necklace,” “I Heard It on the X,” “Just Got Paid”) into the mix. ZZ Top have always been a most unlikely group to nail down a mass audience (who knew long, bushy beards were commercial?), yet they’ve sold more than 50 million units of their shuffles and Texas blues. They prove that quality musicianship and a solid lineup—it's been Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard since 1969—are sometimes all it takes.

The Very Badest

Being a ZZ Top enthusiast, I really dig this compilation. The only things I would change are including the full version of "Cheap Sunglasses", included "Brown Sugar" and made it the first song to kick off the album and included a couple of songs from "La Futura."

Awesome collection. Nothing more needs to be said

This sturdy American blues-rock trio from Texas consists of Billy Gibbons (guitar), Dusty Hill (bass), and Frank Beard (drums). They were formed in 1970 in and around Houston from rival bands the Moving Sidewalks (Gibbons) and American Blues (Hill and Beard). Their first two albums reflected the strong blues roots and Texas humor of the band. Their third album (Tres Hombres) gained them national attention with the hit "La Grange," a signature riff tune to this day, based on John Lee Hooker's "Boogie...
