No Longer Virgins

What a letdown - The Virgins had a truly unique sound on their EP and in their live show, and I fell in love and patiently waited for them to explode. Then this full-length album finally drops, and it sounds like some hot shot music exec got ahold of them and convinced them that they would sell more albums if they over produced their music and lost their edgy, unfinished quality that made them so great in the first place. Radio Christiane and One Week of Danger, perhaps the saddest losses. Hey Hey Girl is the closest that they come to that. I hope their next attempt returns to the original, virginal Virgins flavor.

ep was wayyy better

the "demo" versions on this are so much better than the amped up versions. the raw simplicity that they had on the ep was what i liked about these guys. now they've gone and ruined it with synthesizers and distorted guitar riffs.

what happened?

I fell in love with the virgin's ep and I was counting down the days till i could listen to a whole album's worth of songs. But to my dissapointment I found it to be a enourmous let down. Even the songs featured on the ep had been watered down and in my opinion the music lost it's charm. Before this album came out I would rate them top 5 on my up and coming list easy but now that is not the case. If I could give the band any advice it would be to find a new record company/manager because you have talent its just not shown on this album.

A true product of N.Y.C., Cumming grew up in Tribeca. His teen years were filled with clubbing, especially at the hipster spot Don Hill's and their very successful '80s Night. He became a model for Ryan McGinley, a photographer known for his striking portraits of N.Y.C.'s youth. When McGinley...
