Album Review

Former Kansas band member John Elefante released Defying Gravity in 1999. The album, being a blend of CCM, adult contemporary, and alternative Christian, offers an eclectic assortment of musical stylings. Included in this are "Pass the Flame," featuring a soft folk-rock sound with pop-country influences, "Home With a View," which is CCM set at a moderate pace with a catchy melody, and the rock-oriented "Don't Leave the Band." Elefante served as a co-writer on all ten of the project's tracks. Lyrically, the songs range from the wonder of God's love in "The Way That You Love Me" to childlike faith in "If You Just Believe."

One of my stand-by's

This album has that quality that can dig in and hold you as a listener. John Elefante has always had good music, but this collection has him hitting the target over and over again. He was a great addition to Kansas in the 80's and introduced me to Christian music that was cool to crank up... Now it's awesome to hear how Elefante takes flight on his solo projects. Worth a listen and worth sharing. The kind of meaningful music I wish was everywhere!! Keep up the fight John!

Too Much CCM For 'Kansas' Fans...

But worthwhile if you enjoy John's voice and style. I would recommend it to anyone who likes CCM, but not to 'Kansas' fans; unless you are open-minded about John doing other styles of music.

One of the best ever!

Just listen to The Truth, The Life, you won't be able to resist buying it because it only gets better as it goes along. 5 stars!
