Different, But Still Good

This album is obviously nothing like their third album, which for a rock guy like me is a very good thing. And while this album is a departure from the whole "synth-thing," it's not an absolute return to the lively youth of The Back Room and An End Has A Start. The loss of guitarist Chris Urbanowicz (who I think defined their sound previously) has drastically altered their musical direction. The band still rocks, but instead of guitar-driven riffs, the songs are now directed by pianos. This is simply not the same Editors from 2005. Personally, that's a bad thing, because I loved those Editors. That being said, this incarnation of the band is good in its own right, but don't expect to hear any more searing guitar riffs.
