Customer Reviews

Excellent debut from an up and coming electronic metal band.

The Science of Sleep manages to cover a lot of ground in a little under 30 minutes of music. There is certainly something for everyone on "The World Awaits."

From the opening rapped intro featuring tribal drums and a string section, The Science of Sleep brings something different to the table. The intro is followed shortly by Escape, a melodic metal assault with a dancey twist on the chorus. In Dr. Nuclear pt. 1, the band showcases punk, metal, dance music, and rap, all about a scientist with no hands. Goals Within Reach continues with the established heavy-but-not-too-heavy sound with some prominent keyboard leads. The band continues to assert a positive message throughout the EP, which stands in stark contrast to bands of today with continuously negative messages. An interlude is featured which sits exactly at the right time on the CD. It's followed by their poppiest number, Rain, which calls up comparisons to Forever the Sickest Kids and All Time Low, while still maintaining something of their own. In stark contrast, the following track Of Marble Men displays The Science of Sleep at their heaviest. Screaming vocals dance through the track, complete with a poignant sample from the movie "Man in the Iron Mask," which begs the question: "What do you fight for now?" Not breaking the flow for a second, the band ends with the title track, which features more signature TSOS goodness and a melodic, but still heavy end to a fantastic journey of music.

All in all, The Science of Sleep have certainly not wasted a second toying with copying other styles. They have established a heavy, catchy, danceable blend of electronic metal that will surely turn heads in the future.

a taint of a good time...

those looking for something boring and lame should probably avoid this album. but for those who are daring enough, and are looking to get offended. this is where it's at. classic tracks such as: Escape MAHDIK, Dr. Nuquler, Dacks Within Reach, and The World Awaits our Cacks. these songs belong on some sort of slow jamz love making mix cd commerical at three in the morning right after the kidz bop commercials.

and i hear they have a bangin' merch girl.

Pretty Sweet!

This is a pretty fly album! I'm not really into this kind of music, buuuttttt this was pretty good! I definately recommend it! I go to school with one of these guys!
