Audio Bliss.....

Andy Mckee is my favorite fingerstyle artist, and that says a lot since there are many out there. In this album (one of Mckee's first), you can already hear the creativity and originality coming from his guitar. Not since Hedges has there been such compositionally intriguing music written. Some of these songs (Art of Motion, Into the Ocean) have been re-released on Art of Motion because according to Andy, the recording technology made available to him enabled him to redo his favorite tracks off this album in a higher fidelity format. Great thing about the digital revolution is that no longer must one buy the entire record to get the tracks they really want. Dreamcatcher is a gorgeous track, and Into the Ocean (written on harp guitar). The arrangement of Toto's "Africa" is a fun way to visit an 80's pop favorite.

How about new material?

I'm not sure what it is about this genre of guitarists. But, they seem to recycle half the tunes from one album to the next. Yes, Andy McKee is a great player and this album is another great performance. However, I'm hesitant to buy something that contains five or six tracks from the previous release. Maybe he's taking lessons from Don Ross?

Amazing as ever

Let me first address a concern that someone had below about having the same tracks on this latest album. You probably didn't notice that it was produced under a different label than his previous albums. This one being a Razor and Tie album, whereas previously he was signed to Candy Rat. The decision to put several of his other songs was likely made by the label. Just my thoughts having done no research on the matter.. In any case this is an amazing ablum. If anything just snag the new stuff you don't already have!
