Album Review

With Doyle Bramhall II, the bluesman continues to move deeper into soul, which isn't surprising considering that Wendy & Lisa, Prince's collaborators during the mid-'80s, produced it. While there is still a distinct bluesy bent to his guitar playing, the material is more soul-oriented and polished than before, which will initially alienate some of his contemporary blues fans. However, the album shows considerable musical invention and skill, particularly during its instrumental passages. It's just unfortunate that it loses momentum due to inconsistent songwriting.

A True Hidden Gem

Some times it takes an album like this to remind us what good music sounds like.Sadly Doyle Bramhall II may never get the recognition equal to the talent he displays in this album. His Rock music is beautifully infused with blues and touches your soul. The first time I listened to this album all I could think was wow.I strongly recomend this entire album every song brings somthing different and is just as good as the last.I have to say this was the best use of $9.99 in a long time.

One of the Best Living Guitarists!!

I recently had the pleasure of seeing Doyle Bramhall II play live with Eric Clapton and Dereck Trucks...I have since downloaded Everything i can get my hands on by this phenom..This album moves away from his Blues Roots, but is still very good..I'm hoping that he is moving from the Blues only to attain an even bigger following, then like Eric Clapton, go back to the Music Doyle was born to play.....Texas Blues...

Must have

Jelly Cream saved my life! Just when I thought all hope was lost for the music world as a whole Doyle picked me up and gave me hope once again. This album is wonderful buy it, listen, to it devour it!!!!!! He is a master of understatement, subtle but moving none the less.He deserves our attention. I can only pray more is on the way. The clapton tour is over maybe Doyle can get back in the studio. Arc Angels or a Derek Trucks collabiration would be cool as well. Thanks Doyle for givin us HOPE
